Hi. My name’s Jeff, and I’m a writer (among other things). Welcome to my blog.
This page is intended to give you a crash course on me and answer any common questions.
I love compelling stories, worthy causes, and Pez candy. I’ve been writing for most of my life, but only recently started calling myself a writer and actually believing it. I started this blog in 2010 with some burning questions:
- How do successful writers make a living?
- What does it really take to get published?
- How do you pursue a passion?
What I found in this search was a community of like-minded individuals sharing many of the same struggles. Here is where we wage war on the blank page, where we band together to find purpose in our art and lives.
If you have a passion for creativity and changing the world, this blog is for you.
I usually publish three to five times per week and always seek to serve my readers. If you don’t want to miss a thing, sign up for free updates by entering your email below (I’ll send you a complimentary eBook when you confirm):

People are talking about me, and some of it is actually good.

Jeff doesn’t build his audience from hype. He writes from the heart, and it bleeds over the screen. I’m loving how he’s able to include his personality into articles that help my own journey. That’s hard to do.
—Martyn Chamberlin // Founder, Perfection Coding
Jeff has a unique way of writing that allows for thoughts to come together and make sense on various levels. He is a gifted communicator, writer, and creative force. The conversations that he creates will challenge, equip, and enhance your life.

Great copy connects at an emotional level, and Jeff writes from the heart (with his brain squarely focused on your bottom line).
—Brian Clark // CEO, Copyblogger Media
There are few blogs I read consistently but Jeff’s is one of them. I pick up new ideas with each post. These ideas add up to big changes in my writing and in my business.

Who Is Jeff Goins?
Originally from Chicago, I moved to Nashville after graduating from college and spending a year traveling with a band.
In college, I studied Spanish and Religion and spent part of my Junior year in Spain, which unlocked a passion for travel, writing, and making a difference in the world.
After a year of letter-writing and long-distance phone calls, I moved to Tennessee to “see about a girl.” In 2008, I married her.
Now, I live with my wife Ashley, our son Aiden, and our dog Lyric just outside of Nashville. I’m the former Communications Director for Adventures in Missions, a nonprofit organization, and spend my time writing books and trying to take over the Internet.
I’ve written and guest-blogged for over 100 magazines, publications, and blogs. (To find out more about my writing, check out my portfolio.)
I’m also a speaker, creative coach, and consultant. If you’re interested in having me come speak or work with you, check out my speaking and consulting page.
Connect with me
This blog is my home base. But you can also find me on the following social networks (in order of how much I use them):
Rules and stuff
I don’t accept unsolicited guest posts. Although I’m a big fan of guest posting, this is a personal blog and I don’t have a ton of free space for guest contributors. Feel free to take your post ideas to another blog that publishes more guest content.
I will ignore all requests to promote your product, book, website, service, or blog post. I simply get too many of these and don’t have time to pick out the gems from the junk. Sorry.
You don’t need permission to republish an excerpt from a blog post (300 words or less). You’re welcome to quote me without asking, but why not write something of your own? We don’t need more copycats on the Internet; we need more interesting, original content.
For interview requests, please contact my assistant at admin at goinswriter dot com.
