Hi. My name’s Jeff, and I’m a writer. I love compelling stories, worthy causes, and Pez candy.

I’ve been writing for most of my life. I started this blog in 2010 with some burning questions and a few ambitions. I wanted to know:

  • How do successful writers make a living?
  • What does it really take to get published?
  • When is it okay to pursue your passion?
  • Why do writers write?
  • How do you succeed at the creative life without going crazy?

What I found in this search was a community of like-minded individuals sharing many of the same struggles with the craft.

Here is where we wage war on the blank page, where we band together to find purpose in our art and lives.

If you have a passion for writing, creativity, and changing the world, then this blog is probably for you.

I usually post four to five times per week and always try to help people. If you don’t want to miss a thing, you can sign up for free, daily updates by entering your email address below:

What Others Are Saying

People are talking about me. Some of it is actually good.

Jeff’s writing is creative, heartfelt, engaging and effective — as a result he has a standing invitation to post on ProBlogger and his blog is high up in my personal RSS reader. Subscribe, follow and befriend him today. You won’t be disappointed.
—Darren Rowse // Founder, Problogger.net

Jeff Goins has become one of my favorite bloggers.
—Michael Hyatt // Chairman, Thomas Nelson

Jeff doesn’t build his audience from hype. He writes from the heart, and it bleeds over the screen. I’m loving how he’s able to include his personality into articles that help my own journey. That’s hard to do.
—Martyn Chamberlin // Founder, TwoHourBlogger.com

Jeff has a unique way of writing that allows for thoughts to come together and make sense on various levels. He is a gifted communicator, writer, and creative force. The conversations that he creates will challenge, equip, and enhance your life.
—Stephen Brewster // Creative Arts Pastor, CrossPoint Church

Great copy connects at an emotional level, and Jeff writes from the heart (with his brain squarely focused on your bottom line).
—Brian Clark // CEO, Copyblogger Media

There are few blogs I read consistently but Jeff’s is one of them. I pick up new ideas with each post. These ideas add up to big changes in my writing and in my business.
—John Morgan // Author & Marketing Consultant

My 4-year old just saw a picture of Jeff Goins and said, ‘Hey, isn’t that Luke Skywalker?!’

Bio: About Jeff Goins

Originally from Chicago, I moved to Nashville after graduating from college and spending a year traveling with CTI Music Ministries.

In college, I studied Spanish and Religion. I spent part of my Junior year in Spain, which unlocked a passion for missions, travel, and other cultures.

After a long year of letter-writing and long-distance phone calls, I moved to Tennessee to “see about a girl.” In 2008, I married her.

I live with my wife Ashley and our dog Lyric and have been working from home for a nonprofit called Adventures in Missions since 2006.

I’ve written and guest-blogged for a number of publications and blogs. For more about my work, see my writing portfolio.

I also help organizations with their marketing, communications, and creativity. If you want to work with me or have me come speak to your team, give me a shout.
